Admit it, at least once in our lives, we have either sighed lovingly with a sheepish smile plastered to our face and or cried our hearts out to several couples we've seen in any books, series, or movies. One thing about romance is that you can never hate it, because everyone needs a little romance in their life. And even if the genre is fantasy or thriller, there's bound to be a little romance going on between the characters. As a self-proclaimed relationship expert, when it comes to romance couples, I would seriously cherish my OTP (one true pairing) and treat their relationship like it's my own. Sometimes they would make me squirm and giggle out of excitement because of their precious chemistry and interactions. So, I've nailed down five legendary fictional couples that are very dear to me.

Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez from High School Musical

I thought when I finally got to high school, it would be the time I finally met my own. No, not Troy, but Gabriella. She understood the girlfriend assignment, giving him nothing but encouragement when Troy was having every crisis in his life, be it his responsibility as the basketball captain or his passion in singing. Throughout the whole trilogy, Gabriella was very supportive towards Troy. Eventually, she became his anchor, the one that drags him back on his feet, as shown in the bridge of the song 'Now or Never'-a sweet back-to-back interaction between Gabriella who encourages Troy during an important game. With all the lovely things they sang to each other, they really set the bar too high for my high school romance. Growing up, I wish I had my own Gabriella Montez. But perhaps, she only exists for Troy Bolton. Damn you, Troy!

This is a couple that everyone either hates or loves. The iconic prom party scene is a scene I'd never get tired of watching. And to be frank, Ross and Rachel simultaneously broke my heart, but they made me believe in love again and again. For me, Ross and Rachel show a realistic dynamic of how one relationship could be. You know, the on and off, the mutual pining, the selfishness and sometimes possessiveness. Their actions, though, sometimes annoy and bear questions for everyone. But what is a relationship without one, two... five stupid mistakes? (I'm side-eyeing you, Ross) In the end, they have their own flaws. But through so many obstacles, they made it work!

Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger from Harry Potter

This adorable Gryffindors duo is the epitome of opposites-attract. We watched them grow together and witness how their relationship unexpectedly unfolds from enemies, to friends, and finally lovers. So, this is an easy-to-love couple, even though sometimes your beloved pets can get in the way and smear your friendship. Or the time jealousy arises upon each other's prom dates... and best friend, which by the way brings us to one of the most intense dramas in the story that affects the unbreakable trio. But hey, it also made them share their first kiss, officially making their endearing romance flourish! From Ron and Hermione, I learn how sometimes people don't need grandiose action to show how much they love each other.

Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet from Pride & Prejudice

From classic English literature whose adaptations managed to attract a long lasting audience, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth are a couple that everyone desires! The story is fixated on the emotional development between two people from a different social class, Elizabeth from a middle class and Darcy being a part of the aristocracy. Even if they did start on the wrong foot, it only contributes to the slow burn in their relationship. It's truly the classic narrative on how a certain someone can unlock a part of you that you didn't know existed without their presence, and how we change for the better because the love we have towards each other is bigger than the pride and prejudice that surrounds us.

Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt-Bukater from Titanic

The star-crossed lovers who everyone recognized by heart. Taking the 'till death do us part in a literal way, Rose and Jack are not like the others! Apart from their cold doom, these two did share exciting adventures together in an ill-fated ship. It was a story about love at first sight, with a touch of illicit affairs due to their different social backgrounds. What makes me fond of the two is the fact that I believed how they're made for each other despite their brief romance, and even in the end Rose's heart did go on when he married off a different man. While she did let go of his hand, Rose never let go of memories of him that she kept close to her heart. A love that is beautifully tragic, but it made me think of loving someone unconditionally, even though you both have parted ways. People leave, but the feelings live on.
