Indeed, the theme for the 2019 Met Gala is to embrace boldness and make a fashion statement. But American singer Katy Perry showed up in a glittery hamburger costume. Even though the reason behind this costume was also aligned to promote her new album Bon Appétit, many have criticized Katy Perry for showing in an over-the-top costume that doesn't comprehend the grand theme. Not only Anna Wintour, but actress Kristen Stewart also chose to wear Balenciaga in the 2012 Met Gala. Her dress featured a snakeskin bodice and color-blocked skirt, which looked out of place, especially knowing that other attendees were wrapped in Prada to stick to the theme.

When it comes to punk, garments like studs, chain, leather, black, or plaids eventually become the manual instruments that fit. However, Kim Kardashian wore a tight-fitting floral print Givenchy long dress to the event, showing her baby bump along the way. The pink and white roses print on her dress displays a softer tone and contradict the theme for the night.
