Every Met Gala celebration always becomes the talk of the town. Even though the main event is about a fundraising gala, another spotlight goes to every attendees' looks on the red carpet. The theme for the glamorous fashion night is always different for each year and serves as the underlying concept for the guest's outfit. Even so, many have failed to deliver the statement to fit the theme. You know what they say; rules are meant to be broken. Here are five Met Gala outfits that drive questioning comments from peers globally.

The 2011 Met Gala was themed as "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" to pay homage to the late McQueen and his work. Yet, host Anna Wintour herself showed up in a long-sleeve Chanel sequin dress instead of McQueen. This dress brings a surprise to everyone's faces.

Indeed, the theme for the 2019 Met Gala is to embrace boldness and make a fashion statement. But American singer Katy Perry showed up in a glittery hamburger costume. Even though the reason behind this costume was also aligned to promote her new album Bon Appétit, many have criticized Katy Perry for showing in an over-the-top costume that doesn't comprehend the grand theme. Hence, it felt as if she was making fun of the theme instead of adhering to it.

Not only Anna Wintour, but actress Kristen Stewart also chose to wear Balenciaga in the 2012 Met Gala. Her dress featured a snakeskin bodice and color-blocked skirt, which looked out of place, especially knowing that other attendees were wrapped in Prada to stick to the theme.

Kim Kardashian's soft look contradicts the "Punk: Chaos To Couture" Met Gala

When it comes to punk, garments like studs, chain, leather, black, or plaids eventually become the manual instruments that fit. However, Kim Kardashian wore a tight-fitting floral print Givenchy long dress to the event, showing her baby bump along the way. The pink and white roses print on her dress displays a softer tone and contradict the theme for the night. In addition, memes about her dress started circulating on the internet which broke her heart and made her cry on the way home.

Everyone was dressed in glimmering silver and metallic to exhibit the Manus X Machina theme but Sex and The City's star Sarah Jessica Parker looked casual in an all-white Hamilton-inspired look. She combined a button-down coat and Capri pants, which gives off the impression that she didn't get the futuristic memo.
