Who doesn't know Avril Lavigne? She is truly an icon in the music industry, and a part of me is very much content hearing her latest comeback "Love Sux" album reaches back to her musical roots, which recaptures pop-punk's glory days! It sparked the punk spirit in me that once was there, and I'm reminded of the time when I only bought black clothes and choker accessories for my wardrobe.
I figured, let's relive that era! And if a punk style is what I'm going for, then our legendary pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne fits in becoming the reference! You don't have to go and make things complicated with this killer look; you can say what the hell, and see ya later boi!

In achieving the pop-punk look, the perfect combo would be a mix and match of plaids and black leather. You can never go wrong with that duo! So, the first item we're going to look for is a white t-shirt in any style you want. It could be a crop top, a mesh top, baby tee, or simple tank-top--anything would do! It's better if it has a bit of graphics in the middle of the tee. And to complete the top look, rock a leather black biker jacket! It's an essential item in achieving this look. If you want to elevate that leather jacket, you can do a little DIY on it to make it more colorful and unique!
Moving on to the bottom part, a little plaid play is not hurting anyone. This piece of clothing truly catches the eye--and is an important item of the punk outfit as what was often seen in the 2000s outfit trend. Outside punk, even, it was also a popular piece of clothing if you take a glance at the Clueless movie. So, add a plaid skirt with any choice of colors you want; red, pink, blue, yellow, green, you name it. If you're not comfortable with a skirt, you can always substitute it with pants.
Lastly, black and chunky is the way to go. Slap a pair of ankle boots, chunky sneakers, or knee-high platform boots. You can also add a touch of net stockings and chain accessories!
You can call it finished, but why don't you go all out? Bring back the vibrant and colorful hair, yet if you are not ready for that commitment, a dyed hair clip will save the day. And who is Avril without a touch of pink? Choose a pink dye! Finally, complete your look with the iconic black eyeliner and smudge it around the eyes. To make it last, take a picture!
