After surprising fans with her Instagram post alongside Bruno Mars, the BLACKPINK member has dropped their second collaboration, "APT.". This track is one of 12 songs from her upcoming album, Rosie, set to release in December.
"I have poured my blood and tears into this album. I cannot wait for you to listen to this little journal of mine... With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me. And yes, it's a full-length album," said ROSÉ in a quote from Billboard.
Review of "APT" by ROSÉ & Bruno Mars
The music video for "APT." premiered at 11:00 AM WIB, opening with ROSÉ and Bruno Mars performing in a pink-themed studio. Sporting rocker-style leather jackets, they kick off the song with the lyrics "Apateu", meaning "apartment" in Korean.
This track features cheerful pop-rock beats reminiscent of the '90s. ROSÉ's soft yet captivating voice blends perfectly with Bruno Mars' seasoned delivery, known for his 80s-90s beats. Without one outshining the other vocally, ROSÉ and Bruno unite in "APT.".
The song revolves around desire for someone, inviting them to have fun in the apartment. Sweet and cheerful lyrics showcase the playful side of ROSÉ and Bruno Mars.
In a statement quoted by ABS News, "APT." is a Korean drinking game typically played with friends at home, designed to bring smiles and lighten the party mood.
"One night in the studio, I taught my crew how to play the game. Everyone was fascinated, especially when I started the chant, so we played around with it, and I thought we should make a song out of it... and after Bruno joined the track, the rest became history!" she shared.
Meanwhile, just a day prior, ROSÉ and Bruno Mars teased fans with a photo together on their Instagram accounts, hinting at the collaboration. What really got fans buzzing was their playful interaction in the comments.
After Bruno's comment was included in ROSÉ's post, the single was quickly leaked when she replied with, "I'm gonna kill you. Take that back or I'm not releasing the song, Bruno. 🙄🙄"
